“Don’t doubt it; your vocation is the greatest grace our Lord could have given you. Thank Him for it.” – The Way, 913
I often get discouraged in my vocation. So many things I fail at as a wife and mother, but God has called me to this specific vocation with the purpose of making me holy. We should thank Him daily for this gift. Is a vocation hard? Yes, because God is purging us of our selfishness. He is sanctifying us by sending us multiple opportunities to die to self (mainly through my husband and children). I often fail in choosing to love, especially after the 1,256 time of hearing a kid calling, “Mom” or when my spouse can’t find his socks.
But it gives me peace that even Christ understands how fragile we are. Christ knows our human weakness because even He dropped the Cross on His way to be crucified. He knows what sin does to us, yet He is without sin and that is why He came to give us His life.
“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.” 2 Corinthians 12:9
